When did you join the Kinettes? Fall of 2004 What inspired you to get involved with the Kinettes? How did you first hear about them? To meet new women and volunteer in my community. I worked with a lady who was in Kinettes. What is your favourite core value of the Kinettes that you try to exemplify? Giving back to my community. Has joining the club changed any aspect of your life? Honestly the relationships I have made with the current and past members. The people who I have had an honor to work with in the community have enriched my life. What is the one thing you think people should know about the Kinettes? That there is a fit for everyone. Working or stay at home moms, young or mature. It is a group that is accepting of everyone. Some people are unaware of who the Kinettes are. What are some of the projects/activities that you have been a part of in the community? Central Alberta's Women Shelter - Design a room, Tools for School, Food Bank, Victim's Service, MS Society, STARS What has been one of your favourite projects that you have worked on? The room we designed and updated at the Women's Shelter. We redecorated one of the largest rooms at the Shelter. It could hold a mom, 3 young kids and a baby. What is a skill you would say you've developed because of your involvement with the Kinettes? Team work How have you grown/changed as a person since joining the club? I have grown a lot. These ladies have been a rock and support in a lot of areas of my life. The good the bad and the ugly. They are who I count and rely on in all aspects of my world. What have been some of your responsibilities as a member? Everything but Bulletin Editor - You name it and I have had that role Tell us about your favourite memory or most rewarding experience with the club? My first National Kinvention in Newfoundland. I could not believe the other Kin members across the country and all the good they did. Hearing all the stories of the clubs and what they did for their communities was overwhelming. What would you say to someone considering Kinette membership? Do it! What are some of the social benefits that come with being a Kinette that some people might not know of? I met my new husband at a Kin function :). I have met many people in the community. I have attended events that otherwise I may not have had the ability to attend or the opportunity.
